Vitrine- French, meaning a glass cabinet or show case, for displaying art objects.
Why I called it VITRINE (I get asked this all the time!)
I'd always been intrigued by the idea of having a little showcase filled with knickknacks and treasures. My grandmother had this dark wood Vitrine at home. It was made in India and filled with the most exciting little curios from her travels, old family photographs and handmade keepsakes.
As a child, I would peer through the glass front to see if she'd added anything new and imagine the story behind each of these fascinating items. So, when I was brainstorming for names for my shop on Etsy, I thought back to the excitement I felt looking through the glass, and wanted my customers to feel that same excitement, not knowing what they'd find and be charmed by what they did! Vitrine is also reflective of the fact that I'm Canadian (now living in Dubai)
